So U2 was wonderful. I left as soon as I could after getting home after math, and got downtown and parked at a meter on 9th St. around 4:45, and tried to take a nap in my car (I was damn tired and had about 3 hours of sleep last night). I then hiked the three-ish blocks to Staples, saw metal detectors, and went back to the car, defeated, to stow my camera. Turns out, cameras were allowed after all. DAMMIT!!!! I could have so much better concert pics than ever before. Then I unsuccessfully attempted to use my "I need a floor ticket" 'lil sign. This KROQ dude told me they'd had tickets last night...EXTRA, FREE tickets including a floor ticket that NO ONE USED. Dammit again. He told me I should change my sign to, "I have a ticket but want to be on the floor," so I did. Met a nice Britishy couple also looking for tickets. A guy said he had an extra floor ticket, and, "how badly [did I] want it?" I asked how much, he said he didn't want money. I tried to act excited, thinking he just wanted to make sure a fan got it. He wouldn't clarify, so I said warily, "what do you want me to do?!" and he then talked money...um, you just said you didn't want money. He wanted a lot but wouldn't name a price. He=annoying.
Then, out of nowhere, there's a ticket thrust at me. I turn and look at My Hero, who asks if I have a ticket and where it is, and says he just wants to sit down. He TRADES his floor ticket for my section 332 (or something), row 10 ticket! He didn't want money. He just wanted to sit down. Wow, wow, wow!! (they did have the same face value, but come on! Floor versus one of the highest up seats?) Annoying Dave cannot believe this guy just traded me his ticket. Guy half of cute Britishy couple (girl is gone somewhere) hugs me because I'm so shocked and excited. I hope they got tickets, I looked for 'em inside but didn't see them. Annoying Dave decides he's going to use his ticket and we'll go in together so if one of us gets into the ellipse (the floor section right by the stage, surrounded by the walkway part of the stage) we'll both get in (you can take one other person in with you). I got my pink wristband (thank god the ticket was real and stuff), then this chick scanned my ticket again, and I GOT INTO THE ELLIPSE, omg. The computer screen, instead of saying, "Proceed to Floor," got a bunch of vertical Vertigo logo thingies. Annoying Dave was not in sight. This guy was bitchy..."Who are you with?.....I can't let you in if he's not here!" I was gonna go alone when Dave popped up next to me and they punched our tickets with a hand-shaped hole punch and we went to another table and got BLUE wristbands. Annoying Dave bought me a margarita for getting him into the ellipse. This whole thing must have been making up for me having to sell those tickets at my last concert and that whole ordeal.
Anyway, I get down there and like three people used a black light scanner on my wristbands (then you can see something like a heart, peace sign, etc. More than meets the eye to these paper wristbands. It was cool!) and I felt all special bypassing the regular general admission to go into the best damn part. I ended up being the fifth person from the barrier on the right side. During the second encore, I was 4th. The ONLY drawback to this spot was that Edge never came over to our side of the stage. When he went on the walkway part of the stage, unlike Bono, he went back the way he came (instead of coming around the circle)! Pfshh. There were mostly short people in front of me too, which was great. I talked to a few nice people around me and we became concert friends (going to the bathroom together, talking, making fun of the terrible-voiced, short, LOUD girl in front of us (she was like three pitches off...when we were turned around, it was torture), etc.

Songs I can remember (not in order, and I'm senile, so...roight.):
City of Blinding Lights (that was the first song), Vertigo, Miracle Drug, Elevation, I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Sometimes You Can't Make it on Your Own, Beautiful Day, Miss Sarajevo, I Will Follow, Pride (In the Name of Love), One, Where the Streets Have No Name, Wild Horses, Walk On (acoustic), With or Without You, All Because of You, Bad...plus there were two songs I didn't know in there around the middle/endish, and there were little bits/medley things too, and probably other songs I can't remember.

I pout at no "All I Want is You" or "Mysterious Ways" or "New Year's Day" but YEA at "With or Without You"! And yea at Adam smiling towards/at me soooo many times, I have new Adam love. I couldn't quite get close enough when he shook some people's hands though. Bono changed shirts/jackets/whatever like four times...maybe he doesn't like being sweaty?

Merch: tour shirt w/band in sillouette (I cannot spell) and button

I am now HUNGRY. My "dinner" consisted of a bit of very dark chocolate, a margarita, some mini M&Ms, a piece of sugary gum, and four pieces of sugar-free gum. Yea for remembering the gum!! And now I'm not hungry again. I'm never hungry.

My ears are ringing, I'm (not really) watching the 1a.m. TDS re-airing, and I "get" to go to tomorrow morning's chem lab. I need to go to bed/molest my new shirt.

I have confetti! It's plactic or something, and larger than the Green Day & Weezer variety. There was no confetti at the Phoenix show (which I think was better, though I was in a way better spot this time!) I bet these wristbands can make it through the shower. I'm gonna keep 'em on tomorrow. So yeah, I think that's all. For now. I've bored/jealous-cized y'all enough.

I know!!! It was awesome.

OH, I forgot to talk about the cuuuute way Bono occasionally would sort of hug Adam or Edge from behind while they were playing, and he sang he line "When I come crawling home, will you be there?" to Edge. (see, there's a song I forgot in my list!) And I think it was Larry Mullen's birthday (I think that's what he said). Yea!

Some people had little signs... "Bono, can I play your guitar?" and "I can sing Bad..." were in front of me, and earlier I saw one some chick had made look nice, "Your eyes make a circle".

I tried to get you to come so many times too. I just got lucky, really. Really lucky. :) :)

Post U2 depression was not as bad this time. It must be the first time you see them that the world is all colorless after it's done, heh. I still don't quite get it--it doesn't happen after any other band, even ones I love dearly, like Do Foo. After them I was just happy. U2 clearly has some special powers or something. :)

uh...meaning DA Foo (the Foo Fighters). I've been having serious typing problems lately.
Also, if that wasn't clear, I still got the post-U2 depression, just maybe 1/5 as bad.

YES, I do! (I finally registered just now) It doesn't really look like them, and they're too scrawny, but it's all gay and I *love* the shirt-clutching. The shirt clutching is important...but it'd be spoilerific to explain. :( Thanks fer finding it. :)
