Live theater = football. Yes, football.
Oct. 3rd, 2005 10:50 pmAaaaugh, the Packers lost and it was soclose and so nerve-wracking and EXCITING at the end, god. They could've tied it up/won so easily. Football is such drama...like every week is some new tale with action, tension, betrayal (bad calls & stuff), heroism, scandal, tragedy. There was this amazing touchdown--it looked like Favre was out of time and about to go down, surrounded by four or five Carolina defenders, then he wipped the ball right into Chatman's hands in the back of the endzone before anyone could blink, much less realize what had happened.
It all ended so suddenly. The Packers, down by three points, had the ball and needed a first down. It was fourth down with time ticking away, about 1:03 left. Everything was going quickly at this point, from the touchdown to keeping Carolina at bay to regaining control of the ball to this moment. Incomplete pass to Driver, and a non-flag for pass interference that should have given them an automatic first down. Carolina gets the ball and kneels to end the game. That last 1:03 of the game, over in a few seconds.
It was such a tease, such a cheat. So close, they were going to score, they'd found their offensive rhythym (finally), then......Gah. I still have pent-up adrenaline/anxiety from that cut-short ending.
