My new roommate, aside from making us get rid of DirecTV in favor of Comcast (ewwww!, and no NFL Sunday Ticket *cry!*), listens to the retardedest music, COMPLETELY unashamed, because of his extremely dorky (he's unaware of said dorkiness) social skills. He's listening to that song "You Say" by Lisa Loeb now, for at least the third time. I mean, I like Lisa Loeb allright, but this is a GUY, who thinks he's manly. One of my first days here, he listened to that song "You're Beautiful", pretty loudly, for at least an hour straight, and after a short break, at least that long again. One time it was "California Girls" by the Beach Boys (I do like this song, but for fuck's sake, quit it with the repeating and loudness). Now there's some other female, a slow, either really old song or someone like a more commercial Norah Jones (more American Idol-ish) playing. His most-played song so far is definitely "You're Beautiful".
This is a straight guy. And like I said, he thinks he's manly.

Date: 2006-05-12 05:47 am (UTC)It's really annoying when people play the same songs over and over and over again. I mean, really, there's a lot of good music. As good as "Stay" by Lisa Loeb is, she has many other wonderful songs.

Date: 2006-05-13 05:18 am (UTC)Also, I started looking around at travel/au pair websites, but didn't find any for New Zealand or Australia. I found one for there, but they listed the countries you could be from and the US wasn't on the list(!). :( There were ones for European countries though, and South Africa, that could be interesting...the trick is that I'd have to be making enough money to still pay my rent back here (unless I put my things in storage instead & am homeless upon my return), AND, if I did it for longer than the summer, which most of the websites required, I could lose my health insurance and my student loans might stop being deferred. So it's probably not gonna happen. :/ What company did you go through?

Date: 2006-05-13 08:21 am (UTC)Well, I went through this company:
http://www.experiment-ev.de/en/Programme/Demi_Pair/Neuseeland.php
But it wasn't about earning money. So this (or the American version of it http://www.usexperiment.org) would be the wrong company for you.
But continue looking for something! Maybe you'll still find something.
Oh, and I totally want to talk on skype again... I'm just not sure when it will happen ;p
Oh, I got a new battery for Oskar - if that works and he's got sound again, I'll try to figure out, why it wasn't working.
