As seen just now on the KARE11 (nbc) news...
Flags put near graves in a cemetary in Eau Claire, WI have been disappearing by the dozens, and no one had any idea who might be stealing them...until a groundskeeper saw faded fabric high-up in a tree, which turned out to be a tattered flag. SQUIRRELS have been taking the flags and using them for nest material.

BWAHAHA! Oh my god, so glad I happened to catch that!

In other news, got to leave lake class (I'm calling limnology that from now on) early since she didn't make us stay after doing our first lab. I've done about 10 pages of reading (all in that book) so far, but am supposed to read one of my four books for Saturday's class by Saturday...we'll see. Hope it isn't too boring!

I've got a growing feeling that something, or LOTS of somethings, are creeping up on me. I can think of several possibilities, but this is more like a *feeling* that...just, something bad is coming. No, please. :/

LMFAO squirrels can be evil! my ex roommate claims that when he was younger, they would wait for him to walk outside to catch the school bus. then they would jump from the trees and try to attack him. i think he's full of it, but it's still funny.

NO NEGATIVE THOUGHTS!!!! stab the negative thoughts!!!!!!!!!!!!

My mom says she's seen them throw nuts at people before (from above/in trees)!

Yeah... :/

THAT i've personally witnessed. throwing nuts from trees.

but sometimes they're okay. my grandpa used to feed one every day. it would come up to him and he'd feed it pecans.

but my grandpa was just special. :)

"lake class" sounds a lot more friendly than "limnology"
grad or undergrad? - just curious

eek. an entire book?
"Hope it isn't too boring" indeed.

You're one of the things creeping up on me!! I have, way way back in my inbox, your comment asking me about Harry Potter. Dammit. I was planning on catching up on back-comments at SOME point.......

Undergrad. Forever. :( Haha...it's my fifth year in college, and I've likely got two more after this one before getting my BA (this new school said BS in the brochure, but it's BA. This may turn out to be a good thing, as long as grad schools don't care that I won't have taken organic chem, biochem, or calculus...all prereqs at my old school.

Yes, an entire book, but it's not a textbook, thank god. This class has four books (it's Intro to Urban Teaching, which I signed up for 'cause it was still open, and someday--when I'm 50-something, maybe--I'd like to be a teacher) but none are textbooks.

Also my 5th yr. Meh

I don't have a concentration to my bio degree, but I'm guessing yours is something in ecology? Or are you not a biology major? This Urban Teaching thing has me confused.

"won't have taken... ...all prereqs at my old school"
Well, I guess you could always, of your own free will, take calc, organic, and biochem. But then I'd have to call you a masochist :-D

I've never been to a school where you can *have* a concentration, but I'd like to go into marine biology, or maybe genetics since there are actually good job prospects there.

Aha! But I can't! This school isn't big on science (hence the BA, not BS...I think bio is actually the only science major they have) and they don't offer organic chemistry!! Score. I could still do the biochem and calc though...um...YEAH, that probably won't happen. The one thing I'd sort of miss out on would be that I'm kind of curious about/wouldn't mind taking physics, and you've got to take calc first. No big loss though, I don't want to take it THAT badly (oh, I'm also interested in astronomy, maybe that's why I don't hate physics--chem's really the subject I feel closest to hatred for).

Mmmmmmm. Organic Chemistry. Yeah, I wanted to stab myself with a broken Ehrlenmayer Flask bit when I had to take Orgo.1 And 2.

Good times, good times.

Biochem I aced. General Chem, I aced.
Orgo? Had to take BOTH over due to abject failure. I swear to God, it was like the Professor suddenly started to speak Klingon when Orgo rolled around.

Dude, Lake Class? (Bwahahahahahaha! Love Lake Class!)

I have this strange thing where I really enjoy squirrels. Ew..not in a "reaaaaaalllly ENJOY" them, just that I like to feed 'em and watch 'em....

Now I sound like a freak. Here's the story: when I lived in NYC, squirrels and pigeons were often the only "wildlife" we had. (Besides all of those freak-ass dustbunny dogs on rhinestone leashes).

So, sometimes when I needed to just space out and be "in nature". (As close at Union Sq. Park qualifies as nature), I'd buy a salt-free pretzel or a bagel, stand in a quiet-ish area of the park, and feed the squirrels. There was this one reaaaaallly tiny little dude who'd eventually come over and sit on my palm and eat the crumbs out of my hand. Sometimes, he'd just sit in my palm and look at me.

My little squirrel buddy. *sigh*

Any. Way.

*good vibes your way*

No whammies, no whammies!

EEE, shower!House. Which means hilarious, trippy!House. *pouts about lack of House DVDs, and not being able to watch that episode again*

That squirrel story is so cute....just...I'm slighly awed, even though city animals can be practically domestic, because I've never had a wild animal eat from my hand before. Oh wait, unless you count the couple of loose donkeys in South Dakota (that had to have belonged to someone--who ever heard of wild donkeys in South Dakota?!) who ate candy out of our hands.

Not much wildlife in LA either. I got excited when I saw a non-sea gull-or-crow bird. Even squirrels are less-common there, though the ones that *are* there have tan tummies rather than white, and are pretty cute.

Oh, but you CAN watch that episode again....if I can get my forgetful ass to BURN COPIES OF SEASON 2 for you!

'K, here's the deal, I "accquired" them from "places" online, and I don't have a DVD burner. I could burn the files to disc though...and you could watch them in Quicktime or Windows Media?

Does that sound cool?

You'd have to send me your address though...(since we ARE dating, you shouldn't be too squicked out at that? ;P)

*sigh* I'm supossed to send 'em to [livejournal.com profile] stillife too. I'm such a dickface. I keep forgetting.

Thanks fer liking my Shower!House icon. It's teeny, but it's the first one that I made like, all by myself.

Oh, and thanks for liking my squirrel story. I really love it, it's a nice memory.

I don't know....do I really want to accept MAC-made discs? :p Heh, j/k, sounds great! I downloaded a couple episodes, but literally, like *two*. Don't feel too bad about it--you see them free on tv, after all.

Should I wait 'til you e-mail me and add my address to my reply, or should I not count on that and just do it now? ;) Oh, and you're not the first one from around here to get my address, you know. :) ;)

In which Sam is OnIt! for a change

You MAC hating harlot! Hee. :p Ah ha, my friend, I know I am wont to be "away" for long bits of time...but every now and again, I like to surprise the crap out of people and buck the trend!

Unpredictable, no?

Send me your address!
Do it!

Wait, OTHERS have your address? Who are these OTHERS and what have you been hiding from me?

*taps foot, impatiently*

HAHAHA, the flag story is aweseom.

Awwww, I love squirrels. The ones in our garden are always stealing our cherries though.
Eh, but anyway, one just HAS to love them. Too cute.

more like a *feeling* that...just, something bad is coming. No, please. :/

Uh-uh naah, stay away from S., something bad! You hear me?

awesome even.

btw, it's also "dishonest" in my last email and not "unhonest"... *sigh* I remembered that when I was falling asleep and didn't feel like getting up again to tell ya.

I like "unhonest" better. It seems more...descriptive than dishonest. (In my opinion)

SQUIRRELS! My sis thinks she's the ruler of them and they obey her every whim. She'll say she told them to do that. XD
