They're not only into nuts!
Sep. 7th, 2006 11:24 pmAs seen just now on the KARE11 (nbc) news...
Flags put near graves in a cemetary in Eau Claire, WI have been disappearing by the dozens, and no one had any idea who might be stealing them...until a groundskeeper saw faded fabric high-up in a tree, which turned out to be a tattered flag. SQUIRRELS have been taking the flags and using them for nest material.
BWAHAHA! Oh my god, so glad I happened to catch that!
In other news, got to leave lake class (I'm calling limnology that from now on) early since she didn't make us stay after doing our first lab. I've done about 10 pages of reading (all in that book) so far, but am supposed to read one of my four books for Saturday's class by Saturday...we'll see. Hope it isn't too boring!
I've got a growing feeling that something, or LOTS of somethings, are creeping up on me. I can think of several possibilities, but this is more like a *feeling* that...just, something bad is coming. No, please. :/

"Hope it isn't too boring" indeed.

Date: 2006-09-08 05:16 am (UTC)Undergrad. Forever. :( Haha...it's my fifth year in college, and I've likely got two more after this one before getting my BA (this new school said BS in the brochure, but it's BA. This may turn out to be a good thing, as long as grad schools don't care that I won't have taken organic chem, biochem, or calculus...all prereqs at my old school.
Yes, an entire book, but it's not a textbook, thank god. This class has four books (it's Intro to Urban Teaching, which I signed up for 'cause it was still open, and someday--when I'm 50-something, maybe--I'd like to be a teacher) but none are textbooks.

Date: 2006-09-08 05:45 am (UTC)I don't have a concentration to my bio degree, but I'm guessing yours is something in ecology? Or are you not a biology major? This Urban Teaching thing has me confused.
"won't have taken... ...all prereqs at my old school"
Well, I guess you could always, of your own free will, take calc, organic, and biochem. But then I'd have to call you a masochist :-D

Date: 2006-09-08 05:54 am (UTC)Aha! But I can't! This school isn't big on science (hence the BA, not BS...I think bio is actually the only science major they have) and they don't offer organic chemistry!! Score. I could still do the biochem and calc though...um...YEAH, that probably won't happen. The one thing I'd sort of miss out on would be that I'm kind of curious about/wouldn't mind taking physics, and you've got to take calc first. No big loss though, I don't want to take it THAT badly (oh, I'm also interested in astronomy, maybe that's why I don't hate physics--chem's really the subject I feel closest to hatred for).

Biochem I aced. General Chem, I aced.
Orgo? Had to take BOTH over due to abject failure. I swear to God, it was like the Professor suddenly started to speak Klingon when Orgo rolled around.
